An introduction to digital music through music software. Available as a one-time beat-making workshop or a series of workshops that cover all the basics of music. Features online curriculum materials.
Target Audience: 6-12 years or high school/college
The steel drum is a beautiful, highly-sophisticated instrument that can play any kind of music... and it was created out of metal junk by people in the Caribbean! This workshop takes the amazing example of the steel drum and uses it to inspire young people to use their own resourcefulness and creativity to invent original musical instruments out of recycled materials.
How are the Caribbean Islands, physics, music, and computers related? Participants find out while playing bucket drums and helping to produce their own musical recording! Teen/tween programs can be expanded to include elementary ages.
